Breaking news: RCGSA and City of Tyler was given a $100k Grant from MLB's Baseball Tomorrow Fund. This money will help with the construction of field 3.

A special thanks to Gail McGlothin who read an article about our situation and felt drawn to volunteer to write a grant on our behalf. Without her, it would not have been possible. Thanks also to John Webb (Tyler Parks Manager) and Walter Wilhelmi who assisted in the process. And a huge thanks to MLB for choosing Tyler/RCGSA for this grant to help grow the sport of softball. We will not let them down. Just in the first few weeks of sign-ups we have already signed a tremdous amount of new players to our league and we still have 2 weeks to go. So don't wait til the last minute. sign up now!

Field update: As of January 1, 2009 we have aquired a new home. The city of Tyler has allocated one of the baseball fields at Faulkner Park to be used for Rose Country Girl Softball League. With monies that were set aside and the Kellogg's Frosted Flakes/Brookshires Essay Contest Award, we are currently reconstructing this field into 3 softball fields. The premier field is almost done and they are currently working on the major dirt work of the 2 remaining fields. Field 2 will start infield grading soon but we are still needing financial assistance to complete the 3rd and final field.  Click HERE  for items that we are currently in need of. We can also use "In Kind" or discounted help in the following areas: concrete, landscaping, fencing, etc.

Just wanted to thank all the people that have taken the time to write letters and make calls and to spread the word regarding the need for girl’s softball fields. Because of so many people, things are happening. It is so exciting to know that the girls will have safe and beautiful fields to play on. Also, John Tyler and Robert E Lee Girl’s Softball Team will play all of their home games on the main field this season.

The girls will be so proud of their new home. We are hard at work trying to come up with the funds to complete the 3rd field. When the 3rd field is complete, this will allow us to host tournaments which will bring teams from all over Texas, LA and OK. The economic impact will be of great value for the city of Tyler Business owners, hotels, gas stations, restaurants, shopping and believe me.. the girls can shop.

Again, thank you to so many. Parents, grandparents, Mayor Barbara Bass, The city of Tyler Parks Dept, Brookshires/Kelloggs Frosted Flakes Essay Contest, UT TEXAS Tyler softball team, Parks Board, City Council, Birdsong & Armstrong, Walter Wilhelmi, Gail McGlothin, Tyler Paper for getting the word out, KLTV for truly making this a better East Texas and Grady Rollin-Dirt Man who provided a deep discount on the dirt work.

I truly believe in Paying It Forward- no better investment than in our youth. Momentum is on our side.

Thanks so much and together we can build a better park.

GOD BLESS
